Noah's Ark of Highland Park



Below is an outline of a child's day at Noah's Ark
Welcome: Families are greeted by Noah’s Ark Staff at time
of arrival. Parents are asked to sign their children in as well
as encourage their children to wash their hands and put
their belongings in their cubby!
Breakfast: Children are offered a nutritious breakfast
between 8:15-8:45. Children sit family style with their
teachers and friends to encourage self help skills and
manners through serving their own food as well as pouring
their own milk!
Gross Motor Play: This is a perfect time for all children to
develop gross motor skills on our playground using
tricycles, playing basketball, jumping rope, climbing or in
their classrooms dancing, singing, stretching, crawling
through tunnels, using the parachute, doing yoga, and much
more!
Morning Meeting: All children gather together to greet
each other and discuss the day’s planned activities. Each
Monday, the children will review their weekly helper
responsibilities that may include setting the table, stacking
the chairs, and welcoming other children.
Small Groups: Children are brought together in small
groups of 4-6 in an activity led by the teacher that is related
to the current study.
Center Time: Children are encouraged to choose a center
to play and learn in with their classmates. You may see
dramatic play turned into a Pet Shop, Supermarket, Post
Office, Ice-Skating Rink or Restaurant depending on your
child’s study! Other centers that the children are
encouraged to play in include: Blocks, Manipulatives,
Writing, Computers, Library, Discovery, Art, Sensory table,
and Listening Center.
Create and Share: Children gather back at the meeting
area after center time. The children rotate turns throughout
the week to present and/or discuss art projects, buildings,
or play discoveries that were created during center time.
Lunch: Children are offered a nutritious lunch after an
educationally fun-filled morning. Children sit family style
with their teachers and friends to encourage self help skills
and manners through serving their own food as well as
pouring their own milk!
Nap Time: After a very busy morning, the children are given
the opportunity to take a nap or curl up with a good book on
their very own cot!
Quiet Time: After relaxing on their cots, the children are
given some time to wake up from nap while participating in
quiet activities such as coloring, puzzles, playing with play-
dough, or listening to classical music.
Snack: Children are offered a nutritious snack after waking
up from nap. Children sit family style with their teachers
and friends to encourage self help skills and manners
through serving their own food as well as pouring their own
juice!
Music and Movement: Children are encouraged to dance
and move to a variety of music while using scarves,
beanbags, instruments, and streamers.
Group Meeting: Children gather back at their meeting area
with their teacher to review the day’s activities, calendar,
weather and discuss what to expect the following day.
Story Time: The teacher utilizes this time to read stories to
the children as well as teach new finger plays and songs.

Dismissal: Families are greeted by Noah’s Ark Staff.
Parents are asked to sign their children out this time, as well
as check their mailboxes and cubbies for their children’s
artwork and classroom letters.
Noah’s Ark is open Mon-Fri from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm*
Arrival: 7:00-8:45
Dismissal: 3:15-6:00
